 Why do you want it?

Made to adapt the great looking Specialized Tarmac SL7 / SL8 stems to FSA ACR and SMR split spacers, these adapters are also designed to pass hydraulic brake nuts for easy maintenance. These are made only for use with electronic drive trains using hydraulic brakes.

You are looking for a long and low position. The Tarmac stem is a rather unique part in that it's complex geometry is both low stack (35mm including my transition spacer) and includes additional drop creating one of the lowest hydraulic hose friendly routing systems available. The result is that the -12 degree stems are comparable in height to a traditional -17 degree stem with 40mm of stack.

What is it?

This product consists of three parts.

The first part is a transition spacer 3D printed using HP's Nylon 12 with 40% glass bead fill for compression strength and dimensional stability. This is available in both the -6 and -12 degree fitment.

The second is an top cap spacer that covers top of the spacer allowing for access to the stem bolts and uses a traditional round stem top cap.

The third piece is a minimalist cable bat designed to hold only 2 hydraulic hoses. Also supplied is either a matching Stainless or Titanium bolt.

The first photo shows the parts included in this listing. The second photos show use with FSA ACR split spacers and the headset caps available via my other listings. The spacers and headset caps are not included.

How is it Made?

These parts are printed in the USA on Commercial Grade HP Multi-Jet Fusion machines. The transition spacer is made made using PA12GB. While this material costs over 2x more than traditional PA12 Nylon, the addition of the glass increases its strength under compression by 80% and in this application, eliminates creep. Given that SLS and MJF printed nylons are only 60%-70% of the density of the high-pressure injection-molded parts made by OEMs, this assures OEM level performance. The other two parts are printed in regular PA12 Nylon. Metal hardware is sourced globally.

Note: Items are produced when ordered and have a 4-10 day lead time.
